The crater is quoted as being 230 feet deep ? Those cliffs look about just less than half the depth, 100 feet, 33m, by my rough guestimating..............

Is that a cricket bat? It looks more like an old encyclopaedia volume to me.

I think if you look around the crater you will see that the cliffs do't extend down 50% of the way into the crater, certainly the far bluffs look closer to 12m than 30m. Time to load up Agorimancer's parallax calculator.

A very superficial explanation would be erosion along fractures. What began as cracks in the ancient crater grew and grew as wind, sand sliding down those cracks, occasional mass wasting, and lots and lots of time, allowed them to grow(backward) into capes and bays.
