I just read that thread and I'm glad that someone else noticed the same thing. Great minds, gutters and all...
My first inclination was to post in the "MI done broke" thread, but I remembered this earlier thread and decided to resurrect it.
This particular berry popped out at me; this is important. In acid mine drainage the presence of botryoidal and/or framboidal pyrite is significant in that it is super-reactive with O2 and water: the area-volume ratio is very high and the large surface area is reactive. I'm trying to remember the genesis of that form, I actually gave a talk on this 20+ years back, but I'll be darned if I can remember any details. "CRS" setting in...
But google "framboidal", you'll find it interesting.
We'll discuss later once we get educated.
Elk Grove's "peanut brittle" is interesting, too. It is composed of angular particles in a matrix. We'll look more later...
Attached in an enlargement of the area that we're clucking over.
Off to Exploratorium to see what goodies await.
