NavCam 360 degree mosaic from Sols 1170 / 1171 with a large version link. Some eastern "fringes" of Bright Angel are visible just to our north here towards the bank of Neretva Vallis.
This mosaic is from Sols 1182 / 1183 with a large version link. Typically the second Sol has morning upper tier images to show the skyline more completely. Extended drive animation from Sol 387 to the present. -------------------- Steve [ my home page and planetary maps page ]

tau, your images are amazing-particularly the Right eye filters 1 to 6 (infrared light) multispectral principal components 1, 2, 3. Are we just recently encountering rocks with highly varied components, or is you PCA algorithm producing more dramatically colored compositions. Either way, the right eye filters are picking up dramatic differences in composition. Indeed. -------------------- |

Fascinating! Perhaps it's just a superficial resemblance, but this rock reminds me of serpentine. For comparison, a specimen found near San Francisco, CA: [attachment=55057:post_680...60871306.jpg] Low-temperature hydrothermal alteration of mantle rock brought here as ejecta from a very large impact. And also transported by catastrophic flood flows. This area has quite a tale to tell. --Bill -------------------- |

Sol 1164 Mastcam-Z left eye filter 0 (RGB), enhanced, left eye filters 1 to 6 (visible to nearest infrared light) multispectral principal components, and right eye filters 1 to 6 (infrared light) multispectral principal components.
