This is interesting... doesn't this look like an impact of a small meteorite? I hope they get up close to that area...

Meteorite or impact ejecta, maybe. I've been noticing the dark rocks and hoping they'd mosey on over for a closer look. I hadn't noticed the might-be-an-impact-scar; good catch!
Do you suppose they're dark because they're covered with fusion crust? Or are they really not that dark?

The pieces look like ejecta to me:

They're south of this crater (image taken on Sol 382) that looks a little bit like Eagle Crater:

There is one thing that puzzles me about that rock fragment. What processes have caused it to crumble the way it appears to have done in the images. If it were on earth, I'd say it was the result of crystal growth, either ice or salt. I wonder what the processes are on Mars.
