In late October 2007 I will do a trip to the KSC area with a group of colleagues of the Hoepli planetarium in Milano (Italy), the largest in the country. We will attend the launch of the STS-120 Shuttle mission currently scheduled for October 23.

I am looking for planetariums, science centers, museums or educational institutions worth visiting -- within a couple hundred miles from KSC -- related to science and technology, but not necessarily astronomy or space.

Any recommendations? Besides the usual suspects like KSC itself, any little known must-see places or gems?

Thanks in advance,

Edison's winter home in Fort Myers is an interesting place to visit, but that is quite some distance from KSC.

There lots of good places for wildlife if you include zoology and botany in science, including Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge which is actually all around KSC.

The traveling Science On a Sphere will be part of a special exhibition at KSC, though it would be around November 1-4, just after your visit?

Someone from our group might still be there around that time. Thanks for all the suggestions.
