Looks like the infamous Meridiani rabbit is molting! smile.gif

Seriously though, anyone got an explanation for it? (it's in all the images of that spot and is in and out of focus matching the surroundings) I'm guessing it must have been shed by the rover, but I can't think what or where from.

Could easily be from the airbags - trundling around as they did, the odd fibre could easily get dropped off.

On Hawaii they give this name to thin glassy strands of lava blown by the wind. It's one way to generate thin threads, but no info as to whether this is what is going on here.

Indeed, I'm not yet 100% convinced these are real, but they look convincing...
