They can't have found anything unusual with MARSIS or we would probably have heard more from it by now.

There was a press release about subsurface layers from MARSIS quite soon after it unfolded. Don't know why there hasn't been anything new...maybe it's very hard to see what they are actually looking at.

According to this MARSIS update already posted by Harder on August 28 (#10), there apparently have been more discoveries, just not announced yet...

Interesting image on the MRO homepage:

Not sure if the screen shows anything meaningful though...

And now for something completely different: The SHARAD homepage. Spot the Major blooper. blink.gif

According to New Scientist, SHARAD has already taken its first images, but not released yet:

Does anyone have any further info on the new additional results from MARSIS that I referred to in post #8?

At least we'll know what they are talking about when they announce the discovery of subsurface brines. We just won't know where. huh.gif

As I write, the MRO's website say : "17 hours away of pointing the instruments to Mars."

I can't find where it says that...? The last update there is from September 20.

As I just noted before, an initial test image was already taken, and can be seen here on the background computer screen:

http://marsprogram.jpl.nasa.gov/mro/galler...af_Flamini.html

The official versions haven't been released yet though. There may be others, going by the New Scientist article.

The MRO Web team seems to be grammar-impaired; however, I'm sure that the flight control team is sharp as all get out! smile.gif
