Rep. Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY) announced his retirement today. He will be replaced as chairman of the House Science Committee by Ralph Hall of Texas. God help us.

Boehlert is not retiring immediately, but will not seek re-election; he will be retiring as a Congressman as of the date that the next Congress convenes (January 2007).

Who the Chairman of the House Science Committee will be, of course, depends upon the composition of the 110th Congress.

N.b., this is a clarification and does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of any candidate or party.
