I think that there will be interest in this peer-reviewed online journal about the science and exploration of Mars:

It is fully paid for by NASA for the next three years, so no registration or fees are required.

They have an amazing article about the geology of Sinus Meridiani, putting the Opportunity findings into a larger context. I HIGHLY recommend this long (41 MB) article:

Yes, although it's pretty well buried at the moment, a thread on this journal was started a few months ago.

Ooops... I did not see that thread before posting here. I do hope that more papers are forthcoming. It's been two months with nothing new -- although there could well be other papers in the pipeline.

I downloaded that Edgett article a while back and it is very nicely done. It looks like an interesting overview of the geology of the Meridiani region, largely from an orbiter remote sensing point of view.. I haven't finished it yet, but I like the way they have packaged up the pdf and all the images so you can click the links in the paper to see a higher resolution png image separately.
