Image PJ64_44 in approximately true color/contrast and enhanced versions. The true color version has been brightened a bit near the terminator.
North is up. The central north polar cyclone is visible above center at left. A bigger part of the terminator is visible in this image than in the other hi-res PJ64 north polar region images. I have been wondering if it might make sense to use a longer exposure for comparable (north pole at minimum emission angle) images at future perijoves. This would result in less noise near the terminator. Areas near the limb would probably be saturated but these areas would probably be visible in other images. A longer exposure was used in image PJ64_43 but e.g. the central north polar cyclone is not visible there and also a smaller part of the terminator is visible than in image PJ64_44. |

Collage of processed images from PJ64 map: As far as changes go, Mixcoatl Fluctus is now in view at bottom right on the map and there is some reddish material that wasn't there before. -------------------- &@^^!% Jim! I'm a geologist, not a physicist!

This is a polar map mosaic of images PJ64_43 and PJ64_44. This is from the red channel only. The quality of the red data is significantly better than the quality of the green and blue data in the dimly lit regions near the terminator. In particular, the blue channel images show almost no small scale details very close to the terminator. The contrast has been increased.

Yep, the one on the bright limb is Prometheus and the one near the terminator is Seth.
