Sounds great. I'm going to party like it's sol 1999! via twitter QUOTE marsroverdriver Today we plan sol 1999 for Spirit (in advance; 1999 actually hits Monday-ish). Plenty of "party like sol 1999" jokes going around. How about Troy Trifle Layers and layers of cake, cream, fruit |

Serves me right for not checking my twitter feed before posting that!
Has anyone made a 'let's all meet up in sol 2000' joke yet? What about 'In sol 2525, If Spirit is still alive, If Oppy can survive...' OK I've run out of song references now, you can stop throwing things at me. |

No need to rush, there'll be another opportunity for bad music / sol jokes in just under four months time...

So...It's Sol 2241 for Spirit now. If Viking 1 gets credit for surviving 2245 Sols, Spirit will break that record if there's even a single data downlink after that, right? Hopefully we don't have to wait months to find out if that record will be broken!

(=> Well, now I must change my "VikingMars" name for "MERMars"...) It has just struck me (I know I'm slow) that with Spirit likely to maintain radio silence for a while you will actually become OppyMars in about 20 sols time followed by, if all goes well, SpiritMars, later in the year. Suddenly, the genius of this plan to pretend we are 'stuck and can't speak at Troy' so that Oppy gets a little taste of the longevity records limelight has been revealed to me in all its glory...
