Of course, a mechanical or electronic failure is likely to end the mission long before the RTG wears out (same as on Curiosity)
Phil -------------------- ... because the Solar System ain't gonna map itself.

On the official website of the CNSA (China National Space Administration) there is a short description of the course of the landing and sampling operations so far and further plans (with certain dates and times) in English - here
It shows that sampling and other operations on the surface take about 2 days, and about 2 kg of samples will arrive on Earth in mid-December. I wanted to give some quotes from that description, but at the bottom of the page there is this annotation: "Any one who wants to mirror or copy the information appeared here at this site should first consult the webmaster to get written permisson. Webmaster E-mail:webmaster@cnsa.gov.cn" !!! Other CNSA sites: Here are 2 (already known) landing pictures (quite large size) Here - CNSA news, in Chinese Here - CNSA news in English And here is a fairly detailed description of the current and future operations (in English) on the CCTV website (constantly updated - I think so) |
