Thanks for this - very cool.
As someone raised on watching launches at Cape Canaveral, it's really a treat to see SNOW on the ground! (other than the frost from the LOX and such) -------------------- Lyford Rome

I also wonder how they are able to launch in such conditions.

I also wonder how they are able to launch in such conditions. Why shouldn't they be able? The rocket was derived from an ICBM, it would be surprising if a little snow bothered it. -------------------- |

Roscosmos announces that the team has started switching on the scientific instruments. Everything is proceeding smoothly. There are no problems being reported.

Are we likely to see any data/images from this mission? It is likely, based on Coronas-I and Coronas-F. http://coronas.izmiran.rssi.ru/ -------------------- |

A whole lot of new images were published!!! Plus Google translation of the publication: QUOTE 28 February 2009 began testing the inclusion of telescopes TESIS mode continuous monitoring Sun. So far, telescopes alone spent more than a day: in total during this period received approximately 200 images. The images are not yet centered: the frame of the Sun shows the actual situation in the field of detectors. At tomorrow scheduled a series of moves mirror telescopes, in which images the Sun will be transferred to the working area detectors. It is planned to move the solar disk at the center, then part of its move into the lower half-matrices.

Look ma, no show off!
Just love the russian sobriety... There they are, staring at the sun, and we almost missed the whole thing if it weren't for Zvezdichko... When we'll check the next time we'll have a Dmitri's footprint on martian ground... -------------------- "Ride, boldly ride," The shade replied, "If you seek for Eldorado!"
