I'm a bit confused about the what the highest resolution of the images will be. This description claims that the ISS will take images up to meter-scale, but I can swear on that I saw another description somewhere that said that the images taken will at most be 200 meters/pixel. While I guess that's technically meter scale I'd like confirmation on that. |

I remember reading somewhere that ESA had considered it but decided to try to cooperate with the russians instead of building a spacecraft of their own. I'm not sure where I read it though, was quite some time ago so I could be wrong. |

I might be wrong, but wasn't it pretty much decided that there was little data returned and that the "picture" is only noise? |

Oh, sounds exciting. Guess it's about a Jupiter-mass planet in an orbit similar to our Jupiter. |

I finally managed to see it too, found it easily and it looked spectacular through my telescope. As others have noted, some sort of tail-like feature is visible. |

What do people use to view these images? Every time I try to open them in irfan it crashes. I have all necessary plugins, so that shouldn't be the problem. I guess I should get something else, but what? |

Hehe, I was just joking about that it seems like everyone puts Rhea as their most "boring object in the solar system". I find it amusing that even Tethys is considered to be more active. But I guess, as you say, that this might change. |

At this rate Rhea is going to become not only the most uninteresting object in the solar system, but also one of the least active moons of Saturn . Really, this is interesting news. I guess the outgassing is tiny compared to Enceladus, but it's fascinating nonetheless. |

If I remember correctly there were plans for a swedish probe in the Phobos-grunt mission, just like the chinese one a few years ago. Seems like China was more interested. |

Wow, that has to be one of the most impressive titan picture yet! Does anyone know where this fits in compared to earlier images of this sea? Edit: Oh, i see there is a map in an other thread. The "Caspian sea" is really huge! |

While browsing the webb I've been hearing some rumors about a recent discovery about an earth-like exoplanet. When checking wikipedia I found this article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gliese_581) that states that "a planet about 1.5x the size of the Earth discovered in 2007. The latter is notable as it is the first exoplanet discovered which lies within the habitable zone of the star." I thought this would be all over the news by now, but I have found nothing. The wikipedia article seems a bit unreliable too. I have no idea if this is true or just some kind of hoax. Is there someone here who knows whats going on? |
